Brian Cant has died at the age of 83 after suffering for a long time with Parkinson’s Disease.

An entire generation grew up with Brian informing us, educating us and entertaining us with his brilliant vocal talents, improvisation skills and presenting versatility.

That generation will miss him terribly, as he takes a piece of our childhoods with him. Sleep well, Brian.

Same here folks. 2017 has taken many children’s TV talents from the 1960s. Play School and Play Away had a student following and Brian Cant toured with an adult version.Pugh Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb will observe a minutes silence, followed by applause.

Another piece of my childhood as Joanne said. My thoughts and prayers are with Brian’s family and friends.

Johnny Ball, Derek Griffiths and Fred Harris were / are superb comedic presenters (and this is the first time I’ve ever admitted my first crush as a very young boy was Chloe Ashcroft), but Brian Cant was the daddy for so many reasons. Thanks for everything, sir.
