A snog from Europe

A topical one for today: here’s a double-page spread from the French equivalent of the Radio Times – a magazine called TELE Magazine – for 8 April 1967. Tonight on la Première Chaîne de l’ORTF (the first channel of the Office of French Radio and Television) at 10pm is the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson – the Eurovision Song Contest, coming live from ÖRF in Vienna.
As you can see, a French magazine rightfully highlights Noëlle Cordier’s rendition of “Il doit faire beau là-bas” (The weather must be good there); the hot money was on Vicky Leandros’s “L’amour est bleu” (Love is blue) for Luxembourg; but the winner actually was… well, you know already, yeah?

…and a very young Raphael from Spain (actually it’s his second and last ESC stint), and voilà! A Hispanophone music superstar in the making.

Interesting to see Monaco referred to as Monte-Carlo (which is just part of Monaco) in the listings.
I wonder if 2015 was the first time the reigning champs and host country scored the dreaded ‘nil points’?
