ITV3 on Freeview, but who goes?

4 August 2004 tbs.pm/564

Both Media Guardian. and Sky Digi Online are reporting that ITV is to launch ITV3 onto the Freeview platform on DTT, as well as the usual launches on Sky and Cable, on Novemeber 1st. Now whilst I consider this to be good news overall, it does make me wonder just how this will change the digital landscape. On DTT, I am esepcially wondering just how this is gonna effect Musx 2, the Digital 3 & 4 multiplex that entitles ITV and C4 to just under half the mux each. With ITV1, ITV2 and the ITV News Channel filling up the ITV side of the mux and C4, E4, Price-Drop.TV, Bloomberg and UK Food filling up the Channel 4 side, where would this channel go, and would ITV News Channel disappear as a result? On Sky, with the arrival of ITV3, just what would this mean for Plus, a channel broadcast by Granada Sky Braodcasting, which is jointly owned by ITV plc and Sky? A lot of questions, that need sensible answers.
