TVTimes had
originally published an edition for the midlands when the region first
opened. But the TVTimes was always scrupulously fair in the 3 regions with
two contractors. So at some point, TVTimes disappears and TVWorld takes
its place.
TVWorld
is a magazine that feels no need to be fair. The weekend programmes from
ABC are tucked away in the front, amongst the letters pages and adverts for
cigarettes. They're not an afterthought, but more a 'we're providing a
service for those strange midlanders who watch television on a weekend, if there
are any' type of deal.
In the
middle of the magazine is another front page, with another show being
plugged. You are invited to turn the magazine inside out on Monday, so you
have direct access to the weekday programming without wading through the unnecessary
fillers - crosswords, special offers, quizzes, weekend television listings, that
type of thing.
This
magazine appears to be so ATV-biased that one wonders firstly what ABC thought
of it, and secondly, why didn't they go the whole hog and call it 'ATV World'?
