Children's
programmes in the early days of television seemed to fit into one of two
camps. Either they were aimed at pre-school or infant age groups (Woodentops,
Andy Pandy, Muffin the Mule) or they were aimed at family viewing, as with
"Tales of Hans Anderson" here.
The
development of intermediate programming, that for children about to start
secondary school, and of teenage programming, other than pop music shows, would
take a long time to arrive.
