ATV Sunspots: the design angle The Promotional Archive

ATV Sunspots

A quintessential piece of late 1960s design, this brochure, and especially its cover, is still impressive today.

The round leaflet (all save the stapled side, on the left of this cropped image) was innovative, but the sun's 'eye' as the ATV symbol was masterful. When opened, the leaflet showed the eye - like 'The Hungry Caterpillar' children's book - to be part of the facing page, with a cut-out to let it show through to the cover.

The ATV symbol was actually superimposed over a map of their (VHF) region.

An impressive, subtle device, like the rest of the brochure, designed to impress with style as it is impressing with content.
