ITV 1987

By Russ J Graham

ITV in 1987

In 1987, population coverage is well over 99%, with boosters still being added to reach the goal of 100% population coverage.

TVam is now firmly established, while Channel 4, whose advertising is sold by the ITV companies, is also up and creating scandal.

The pattern of the regions has barely changed - mainly booster changes affecting dozens or hundreds but never more - while three different contractors occupy the spots taken by Southern, Westward and ATV in 1977 (although it can be argued that genuine change only happened in the Southern/TVS area - the rest had at least some continuity).
