Good news for ITV
EU to allow product placement on TV
What's the betting that ITV will now campaign to be allowed to feature product placement on its light entertainment and long-form drama productions, and Ofcom will simply roll over and oblige? Although limited product placement won't mean that the sky will fall in on UK broadcasting, it's not hard to envisage ITV in particular doing this sort of thing much more often than not.
Which, given ITV's long and illustrious reputation for top-notch light entertainment uncompromised by product placement, will be a shame.
