No Mass Switch Off, Following Mass Switch Off
Trial area gives thumbs-up to digital switchover
"Research reveals that all 25,000 households in the lead area of Whitehaven are intending to convert to digital TV" proclaims the Media Guardian.
Which isn't exactly a big surprise... Whilst there have been plenty of people proclaiming that they're not going to bother, ultimately television is the drug that almost all of us can't do without. Digital switchover was never likely to have seen hoards of viewers suddenly switch off in droves.
Which raises an interesting question - will we ever give up on TV? Star Trek for example, sees a world where television is long gone. Just what do the hundreds of people on the Starship Enterprise do in their time off?
