It's always good to get in the mind of TV critic, producer and TV anorak extraordinaire Victor Lewis-Smith, one of the people behind Associated Rediffusion.
And if you take this article with some pinches of salt, you'll certainly get that. For starters, according to Companies House his company (Associated Rediffusion Television Productions Ltd) was only formed in 1990.
There was a Rediffusion Ltd dating back to 1954, but it was dissolved last year - although interestingly this year a new company was formed with the same name and registered to the same address as Rediffusion Television Ltd (formed 2004) and Associated-Rediffusion Ltd (formed the day after Rediffusion Ltd).
Still, if you're prepared to take your historical information with a little spin, his article from the Media Guardian does make an interesting read.
