Governors Gone

BBC governors axed, license fee to stay (Media Guardian)
BBC governors set to be scrapped (Note: BBC)
Bore yourself silly with the whole thing (DCMS)

Well, the governors are to go, and are to be replaced by an Executive Board, which will run the BBC, and the "BBC Trust", which will act on behalf of the license payer. Ofcom are also to have their powers increased, and the license fee is to stay, although other forms of revenue collection will be considered for the next charter renewal.

So, in other words, pretty much what we expected. The governance issue needed to be sorted, and it would be disastrous to scrap the license fee at the minute, as there is no other sensible means of revenue collection.

I'm happy with that.
