Secret Intercepted Memo From ITV. Honest.

Media Guardian: ITV News hits ratings low

Dear Ofcom

As you have no doubt seen, despite our best efforts, the number of people viewing our flagship late night bulletin have been slowly and steadily decreasing.

We are increasingly becoming concerned about the financial viability of this service, and have been reviewing options for the future of this late night news bulletin.

As such we would like to suggest that the 10:30 bulletin should no longer be considered to be required from us, and would like to cease this bulletin as soon as possible.

We strongly believe that we have done our uttermost to make this time slot work - even putting strong programmes before it like Dead Man Weds - but it no longer appears to be working, and we have to cut costs in order to line the pockets of our shareholders.

Of course we would also have to axe our late night regional bulletins, thus enabling us to make another 150 people redundant, and save enough money to buy some new crystal decanters for the board room.

Please feel free to pop by our offices and share a brandy to discuss this proposition.

Yours

ITV
