ITV ready to kill off another channel?

After the news that Five and Channel 4 had explored merging, the news that ITV would be interested in getting in on the act should not surprise anyone.
And why shouldn't they? After all the bigwigs that now sit together at the newly created ITV plc have managed to closed down so many channels already, why shouldn't they get to ruin another?
