Japanese goes digital

BBC News: Japanese viewers get digital TV.

It's funny - you always think of the Japanese as being at the forefront of technology but digital terrestrial television (DTT) has only just launched in three cities in Japan, and they didn't get digital satellite until 2000. Indeed for those that don't know, the first country to broadcast in DTT was the UK.

Just to show us that first doesn't mean best, Japanese DTT viewers will be getting HDTV.
