New Channels Coming Soon...

From Transdiffusion's Bitstream department, comes news of new channels coming soon to a television near you.

VH-2. Years after the original VH-1 launched, the team at MTV Networks have finally gotten around to launching a VH-2, the VH of the channel name meaning Video Hits. The channel is being aimed at the "lads" market and will focus more on music videos rather than music programming. It is currently due for launch on December 16, but that could change.

FX-UK. With Sky One in big time trouble, the launch of a Fox brand channel here in the UK, seems to be another boot in ribs of Sky One. FX will launch their UK service on January 12 2004, and have released some details about their schedules. Now from what I have seen, the channel will be as good for Sky One as Atlantic 252 was for Radio Luxembourg, so we will see what happens.

There are also plans for Sky to launch a general entertainment channel on Freeview to replace Sky Travel, Disney is said to be working on a Freeview channel launch as well, Channel 4 to launch More4 for the over 35's, and CBM and Setanta also have plans for Freeview channels.

Recently both TVE Internacional and Deutsche Welle have launched onto Sky Digital after having been long-time cable only channels in the UK. Other channels are thought to be in the pipeline, but hard and fast information on these players is hard to come by right now. As we get more information on this, we will let you know.
