I didn't get where I am today by blindly making something that's anything like the original series

Another one from the "Eh, what? Why?" file is the news that the remake of The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin won't actually be a remake at all because most of the concepts and storylines will be got rid off.

Even the concept of a character who faked his own death will be chucked, and as for CJ... Well don't bother looking for him

Indeed, it's even going to adopt a standard sitcom format, rather than the wonderful Perrin storyline.

In fact as remakes go... well the only common themes are the creator (David Nobbs), the concept of someone who is a bit annoyed with the world, and the name.

In other words, it's not a remake at all. And in that case, why not just call it something different...
