Media Guardian: Beyond soap - BBC embraces villains, plot twists and Latin style of telenovela
So the Brazillian style soap opera, or Telenova, is coming to the UK. The difference is that there's a fixed number of episodes - self contained storylines.
That the BBC is looking at them as a concept is not hugely surprising. The success of Bleak House did suggest that the Telenova could work in the UK, as one Transdiffusion commenter pointed out back in December 2005.
