ITV regional news moves on

Media Guardian: ITV axes 40 news jobs

Ding ding, all change please!

Hot on the heels of Mike Neville's departure, and ITV have announced a raft of changes to its regional news service.

Tyne Tees's North East Tonight will remain split between the north and the south, whilst Calendar gets cut in half with separate bulletins for the east and the west - mirroring (presumably) changes made by the BBC.

But perhaps the biggest change is to merge Meridian West with most of Central South to create a new Thames Valley region. The rest of Central South will be handed over to ITV West.

With the positives, come the negatives. Forty jobs will be axed in the Central/Meridian move.
