Cellcast launches new Freeview 'radio'
Cellcast, the interactive digital broadcaster, today announced that it was launching a new platform on Freeview, the free to air digital TV channels. The group said it was pioneering new 'visual radio' on digital terrestrial television, launching new entertainment services on Freeview including a ?breakthrough in interactive TV technology.?
Which actually means Cellcast have launched a low budget, low quality quiz channel that broadcasts between 1 and 5am. It's called Smile TV.
For those that don't know, Cellcast's other "breakthroughs" include an auction channel, quiz strands sold to other satellite TV operators and a channel called Babestation.
A decision on whether this is a breakthrough in interactive TV or just an attempt to take as much money out of peoples pockets by using premium rate phone lines and dubious 'competitions', is left to the reader.
