BBC News: US public TV shows 'facing cuts'

The US's PBS network isn't exactly the most well funded public service broadcaster in the world, yet despite that, it's childrens programming has crept across the globe - and not just Sesame Street. Barney the purple dinosaur and CBBC staple Arthur both came from the world of PBS. The network has also worked with the BBC and Channel 4 on a number of high quality productions for an adult audience.

Yet despite this good work, George Bush has a reward - a budget cut of 30% - £90m - to its budget is a very real threat, and all to pay for more money for the millitary...

Last time such an attempt was made (last year) Congress blocked the plan. No doubt PBS fans will be hoping they do the same again.
