I have been listening to a classic local radio pairing on BBC Radio Cornwall, reunited after 15 years. Former Westcountry continuity announcer Chris Langmore has been reunited with former Late Night Sou' West phone in partner Howard James, to cover Duncan Warren's Evening Show. Chris's last show in covering for Duncan is Friday 2nd December at 7pm UK time.
I also understand that Chris will be doing Sunday Nights from 10pm to 1am UK time, and using his old Late Night Sou' West theme for the show. He will also be doing New Year's Eve. If there are any former Late Night Sou' West listeners who want to tune in for some fun, frivolity and memories, you can listen in through the BBC Cornwall, Devon, Guernsey and Jersey websites.
Personally, listening to Chris and Howard has been a wonderful trip down radio memory lane. These two are a riot to listen to. I certainly would not mind hearing these two on local radio again, as they are fun to listen to. It reminds me that there are presenters and teams out there who remember what radio really should be. It should be about having fun, playing good music and entertaining the audience, not about slick production values, over-rehersed breakfast teams and non-stop music sweeps.
