It seems that the concept of radio by satellite is very much here to stay, and even the BBC is onboard with the concept. The BBC World Service is already part of WorldSpace Satellite Radio, which broadcasts to Europe, Africa and Asia, and on XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio in the United States. The BBC also broadcasts a Latin American station BBC Mundo via Sirius, but soon, according to Yahoo! News, the BBC will begin broadcasting Radio 1 on the Sirius Satellite Radio Network, and the schedule will be timeshifted so that listeners will be able to listen to Chris Moyles at 7am ET etc.

This definitely seems to confirm the fact that satellite subscription radio is definitely hear to stay and the BBC continues to demonstrate its readiness to embrace new broadcast technologies and platforms. But somehow, to my mind, the idea of paying for radio services seems to be just plain greedy. I don't know if I'll ever accept the concept of subscription radio.
