Ban It Now!

Media Guardian: BBC goes ahead with Springer opera

Outrageous! Controversial! Ban it now!

Words there not about Jerry Springer, but the view of some people when Mozart and Strauss were composing all those years ago.

Nowadays opera is seen as gentle, nice, timid - it's the posh persons music. Time to get dressed up in your bow ties and your ball gowns and hang around in Covent Garden and listen to some singers which you can't understand.

In 200 years time posh people in bow ties and ball gowns will probably be sat in Covent Garden watching Jerry Springer the Opera, oblivious to the controversy there is now.
