This year's Christmas treat

Courtesy of Channel Five, this evening some archive repeats are being shown from 7pm onwards, kicking off with The Goodies and the Beanstalk. Previous BBC Two controller Jane Root supposedly axed a Goodies theme night which was close to its completion, so this episode will give viewers a chance to see something that hasn't been shown on terrestrial channels for many years.


And although this is followed by two rather dull 1970s ITV sitcoms (Robin's Nest and George and Mildred), these two are positively bursting with originality compared with this evening's competing ITV1 schedule: an Emmerdale compilation, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Mr. Bean, Coronation Street, David Jason nostalgic period drama. Excuse me whilst I fall asleep...
