News 24 relaunch delay

Media Grauniad report

The fallout from today's power cut continues, with news that BBC News 24 is to miss its planned relaunch date of Monday.

The loss of a day's work on the new-look set has pushed the launch back by exactly a week, so we'll have to wait for the new whizzy graphics, flashy set, flashing icons, thumping music, spinning text or whatever else N24 is planning to assault us with after the changes.

Still, today has been very restful - visual GBH-wise - and an otherwise slack news day has been enlivened by whatever news there is being presented plainly, directly and with little faff... just what the viewers want, in other words.
